Position Summary:
The Department of the Navy, Naval Information Warfare Systems Command, Atlantic, has a continuing requirement for a self-directed and motivated individual to join our team as an Information System Security Specialist. Primary work location is Charleston, SC, though a portion of the labor categories will perform at various location within the US and Internationally. Qualifications:

  • Conduct Cybersecurity Test & Evaluation (CS T&E) events to ensure that the system, as designed, does not present an unnecessary risk to other systems and/or networks or is vulnerable to attack itself from adversaries.
  • Conduct Assessment and Authorization (A&A) events to ensure that both the IATA Standards (Cybersecurity requirements), the approved NIST SP 800-53 security controls and applicable DoD STIGs for the system are being adhered to and have been met.
  • Apply patches or configuration changes to the system IAW the latest applicable Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGS), Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), and ACAS Plugin(s).
  • Mitigate/close any/all vulnerabilities and performing regression testing to ensure system is functionally acceptable.
  • Be able to assist with the preparation and maintenance of process artifacts, traceability documents purposed for compliance with Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
  • Perform evaluations of security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing up to classified information and supervise and/or maintain the operational security posture for an information system or program.
  • More senior specialists may assist or develop system security policy and ensure compliance of change management and configuration control processes. Plan and coordinate the IT security program and policies supporting the command leadership mission and goals.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, completing, and presenting assessments of National Security/IA-related concepts, analyses, studies, and procedures.

  • Have working knowledge of the Information Assurance Technical Authority (IATA) Standards in order to incorporate them during all phases of the system design.
  • Responsible for integrating various network operating systems, application programs and hardware devices.
  • Plan and design solutions for enterprise Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) within the Windows-based architecture (server, database, and workstation) environment.
  • Build and provide diagrams to support the RMF process such as System Architecture, Security Boundary and Information Flow diagrams IAW US Navy Authorizing Official standards.
